Bump Key

Here is a picture of a bump key. Every lock has a different set of groves in it which requires that lock to have its own bump key. In essence every lock manufacture will have it's own bump key. For instance, if you have Kwikset as shown in the bump key picture below then you will need a Kwikset bump key to open that lock. Another example is if you have a Schlage lock then you will have a specific bump key made for that lock. So basically there is only one bump key for a brand or model of lock. The manufacture of these locks does not sell the bump key itself. They sell blank keys to locksmiths or companies with a key copying machine with good intentions. However with the advent of the internet and the free transfer of information and knowledge is has gotten out that you could you these blank keys to create a bump key. From this the internet has created a niche industry for bump key manufacturing and distribution.
